"während" (temporal/contrast)
"während" can express two things. In both cases it is a conjunction → the verb goes to the end.
- Simultaneity (while): two actions happen at the same time.
- Contrast (whereas): two situations are contrasted.
Note: "während" can also be a preposition with the genitive (während des Tages). As a conjunction it is followed by a full clause with the verb at the end.
