Übung: obwohl / während / nachdem

Practice: obwohl / während / nachdem

All three are subordinating conjunctions → verb at the end + comma. They differ in meaning and in tense.

Note:

• "obwohl" ≙ "trotzdem", but different word order.
• "nachdem" usually needs the past perfect in the clause.
• If the clause comes first: comma, then the verb in the main clause.

Examples:

• Obwohl es regnete, gingen wir spazieren, nachdem wir gegessen hatten. (Although it rained, we walked after we had eaten.)
• Während ich arbeitete, spielten die Kinder. (While I worked, the children played.)
• Nachdem der Film zu Ende war, diskutierten wir lange. (After the film had ended, we discussed for a long time.)
