A closing text that brings much together

(Language is not a rigid set of rules but a living organism. Whoever masters it chooses their words with care, switches effortlessly between registers and picks up the subtle undertones. Isn't that the real aim of all language learning? The road there may be long; nevertheless it is worth it – hence: stay curious!)

What next?

  • Read a lot: arts pages, novels, specialist texts, glosses
  • Write deliberately: essays, reviews, commentaries
  • Listen actively: podcasts, debates, cabaret (irony!)
  • Experience language varieties: travel to Austria and Switzerland
