Review: nominal style in discussion contributions
In discussions, presentations and written statements, nominal style ensures precision and objectivity. It shifts the focus from the person acting to the issue.

Phrases for discussions (in nominal style)
- Giving an opinion: Meiner Einschätzung nach … (In my assessment …) / Nach meiner Auffassung … (In my view …)
- Agreeing: Ich schließe mich der Ansicht von Herrn X an. (I share Mr X's view.)
- Disagreeing: Diese Argumentation überzeugt mich nicht. (This argument doesn't convince me.)
- Qualifying: Unter Berücksichtigung der Kosten … (Taking the costs into account …)
- Conclusion: Als Schlussfolgerung ergibt sich … (The conclusion is …)
Note: don't overdo it!
❌ Die Vornahme einer Überprüfung der Einhaltung der Vorschriften zur Vermeidung von Unfällen ist erforderlich. (The undertaking of a review of compliance with regulations for the avoidance of accidents is required.) ✅ Es muss geprüft werden, ob die Vorschriften zur Unfallvermeidung eingehalten werden. (It must be checked whether the accident-prevention rules are being followed.)
Examples:
- Die Förderung erneuerbarer Energien ist ein zentrales Anliegen. (Promoting renewable energy is a central concern.)
- Es bedarf einer Klärung der rechtlichen Fragen. (The legal questions need to be clarified.)
- Zur Lösung des Problems schlage ich drei Maßnahmen vor. (To solve the problem, I propose three measures.)
- Unter Berücksichtigung aller Faktoren halte ich den Plan für sinnvoll. (Taking all factors into account, I consider the plan sensible.)
